In Response to
"The Job Market in Charts"

by Wendy

In response to this article that was displayed today, http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/10/the-job-market-in-charts-iii/, I have to say that the hospitality industry is certainly suffering.

I am a sales manager for a 4-star hotel, and for the past year, we've been getting less and less travelers coming in. It seems that tourism is the last priority on people's list which I can understand, but it's heart-breaking to see some of my colleagues being let go. Since there is a lower budget, hours have to get cut and some employees have to be laid off. There is only half the number of front desk agents working now that usual.

I am just hanging in there while I am able to keep my job for as long as possible. I love the hospitality industry and don't want to see a decrease in beautiful hotels.

In the meantime, I encourage everyone who has lost their job to keep your head up and stay positive.
